APRIL 2013 – “The Legacy Collection”, in support of the Franschhoek Literary Festival in May 2013, artist Marc Alexander will be showcasing his celebrated ‘Legacy series’ presented by Grande Provence Art Gallery, opening on the 28 April. Together with the recently finished six new works, this collection of 14 portraits will form part of a group show titled ‘(un-)BOUND’ which also includes the work of Paula van Coller Louw, Ruhan Janse van Vuuren, Kelly John Gough, Frans Smit, David Brits, Frank Van Reenen, Gavin Risi and Uwe Pfaff among others. Alf Kumalo , who has shared with us his incredible journey to freedom that South Africa has experienced with his many iconic scenes of the anti-Apartheid struggle, opened my exhibition entitled “Legacy” at Art Afrique Gallery in March 2012; and in December 2012 the exhibition was showcased again at the Studio Gallery in Kalk Bay to honour the life of Alf Kumalo.
