“Marc’s replicas are Indistinguishable from the originals.” Satisfied client!

I have always had a keen interest in art restoration and the reproduction of classical artworks. During my time as Museum Technologist and curator for the Pretoria Art Museum, I became eminently skilled in the technique of ‘Grisaille’ oil painting, in particular, the technique employed by 14th to 17th century Dutch and Flemish masters. I completed my first great reproduction in 1996, reproduced after the Dutch Master Willem van de Velde the Younger (1633 – 1707), titled “The Salute” and dated 1664. It depicts a warship firing a salute in the harbour set against a cloudy sky with no less than 26 ships and boats on the horizon and fisherman in the foreground.

Since that time, clients from all over the world have commissioned me to paint replicas in a variety of styles and techniques, after such masters as Gustav Klimt, Vincent Van Gogh, Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali and Alexis Preller to mention a few. With every reproduction, I give meticulous attention to replicating original textures, brush strokes, colour matching and detail so that the reproduction will be almost indistinguishable from the original.

“Think of your favourite masterpiece… …now imagine having an identical replica in your home that you can enjoy with friends and family.”
